Netball - U9 A V vs South Lee (A), Wednesday 10 September 2014

The girls were very excited to be playing their first ever away match and enjoyed the coach journey to South Lee with the U11 girls' hockey teams.  After warming up and establishing the rotations required after each quarter, the match got underway.  South Lee started well and soon had three goals under their belt but Holmwood came back after skillful passing between the girls and a good shot from Martha M.  At the end of the first quarter though, Holmwood were trailing by 3 goals to 1. The girls rotated positions and, after a talk about marking partners and finding a space on the court, Holmwood began to get more shots at goal which resulted in Sabine S scoring a goal then Paige S scoring 2 goals to put Holmwood in the lead by 4 goals to 3 at half time.

The third quarter saw some excellent play from Millie M as she was intercepting passes and from Jemima L who was also very good at getting the ball into a shooting position.  At the end of the third quarter, Holmwood had increased their lead to 5 goals after Jemima L scored but South Lee had got one back so it was all to play for in the final quarter.

South Lee played with real determination for the final part of the game but Holmwood defended brilliantly and, after a goal from Martha M in the final few minutes, Holmwood clung on to be the victors.  It was a well played match where both teams learnt a lot about the game and showed a real commitment to win.  Well done, it was a great match to watch!

Result:  South Lee 4 - 6 Holmwood
