Rugby - U11 A XIII Tournament at Holmwood House (H)

Holmwood’s annual tournament was held on Barbers Piece. It proved, as ever, to be a tough competition and the standard was incredibly high.

Holmwood vs Barnardiston

An evenly matched game, both teams were very committed to the ruck area and competing for the ball. Barnardiston won the game by a runaway try in the last play of the game. They twisted the knife by slotting the conversion.

Final score: Holmwood 14 -7 Barnardiston

Holmwood vs Littlegarth

This proved to be a game of two halves. Littlegarth started the game playing down the hill and their big, strong runners did the damage to the score line. Littlegarth played a wide game and used their strong attackers well. Holmwood’s defence stepped up to the challenge in the second half and only let Littlegarth sneak one try towards the end.

Final score: Holmwood 28 – 0 Littlegarth

Holmwood vs Finborough

Both teams were exhausted by this point. The Finborough defence were able to hold out after a prolonged Holmwood attack. Finborough stole the ball and managed to ship the ball quickly to their fast winger who scored in the corner.

Final score: Holmwood 7 – 0 Finborough

Well done to all of the boys involved in the tournament. It was clear to see from a referee and coach’s perspective that all the boys enjoyed the games. The standard of rugby was outstanding and I am looking forward to seeing how far the players have progressed by next year’s tournament.

Big thanks to Mr. Lesiak for his role in organising and running the tournament, without him it would not have been possible.
