Soccer - U9 A VII vs Brentwood (H), Tuesday 14 October 2014
Holmwood’s sixth match of the term was against Brentwood. Holmwood started well and soon found themselves a goal up after a shot from Ned N was pushed into the path of Harry O, who tapped in from close range. Henry D and Alex B defended well and Sam F and Ralph BS worked hard on the wings. Holmwood went further ahead thanks to another Ned N strike. By this stage, Brentwood started to gain some confidence and were asking some serious questions from the Holmwood defence. Patch A, in goal, was having his best game so far and denied Brentwood on several occasions. Half-time: Holmwood 2 Brentwood 0.
The second half saw both teams create chances. However, it was Brentwood who scored next after a shot from the edge of the box struck a hand and a penalty was awarded. Brentwood scored to pull a goal back. Brentwood continued to push for an equaliser and, with only a couple of minutes left, a second slightly harsh penalty was awarded again for hand ball. The penalty was expertly dispatched to bring the scores level. At this point it was all Brentwood. However, Holmwood managed to hold on for a creditable draw.
Well played boys, what a massive improvement you have made so far this term.
Result: Holmwood 2 - 2 Brentwood
Soccer - U9 B VII vs Brentwood (H), Tuesday 14 October 2014
Holmwood U9's first game this week was against Brentwood. They struggled in the first half and came in at half-time 3 goals down. In the second half, William W replaced Hector BP in goal. William T was a rock in defence. Hector scored a great single effort goal from winning the ball from just in side his own half! Christopher T had a difficult game against a large Brentwood defence. Well played boys - you all put 100% effort in the second half, I am very chuffed.

Soccer - U9 C VII vs Brentwood (H), Tuesday 14 October 2014
Brentwood proved to be far stronger but Fergus S, Josh R and Josiah C tried exceptionally hard, tackling and clearing the ball when in trouble. Damon B was captain and led by example running his socks off up and down the pitch. Henry M was visibly strong at centre midfield looking to pass the ball and put in some very hard tackles. Owen J held his position well and Harry P tackled brilliantly and looked to get stuck in at all times. Well done, it was a hard opposition.
Result: Holmwood 0 - 9 Brentwood
