Swimming Gala - Years 3 and 4 at New Hall (Away)

Congratulations to all the Year 3's for surviving their first gala experience against tough competition at New Hall.  Adjusting to a 25 metre pool is no mean feat let alone asking the children to race in it! More was also asked of the Year 4s at this fixture - butterfly! - and much persuasion was required to fill our lanes, yet with some very pleasing results.

Making her debut for the Year 4 girls was Margot F, and, despite a goggles malfunction in her freestyle event, she still managed to touch in second place.  For the boys, Ralph B-S had a fantastic afternoon placing second in the butterfly race and going one better in the backstroke.

The Year 3 boys placed second in all the individual races; Edward S in both the backstroke and breaststroke, Lewis T in the first freestyle race, and Henry M in the second freestyle event.

But it was the Year 3 girls that showed us what grit and determination looks like!  They got off to a tremendous start in the Medley Relay, (Emily B, Julia K, Anna B, and Imogen J), with a first place.  This was equalled by both Julia in her breaststroke event, Anna in the first freestyle race, and Sarah E was not to be outdone in the second freestyle race.  Their winning streak continued as well in the Freestyle Relay with Poppy D-R, Flora D, Anna B and Sarah E swimming.
