Soccer - U9 A vs St Margarets

Holmwood’s first match of the term was against St Margaret’s. The boys looked to put into practise what they had been working on in their first few training sessions. Holmwood started well and held their positions to great affect this allowed Holmwood to pass the ball and in turn put together some encouraging attacks. George H looked to spread the play whenever possible from centre midfield. Tom B and Rafe C held their width and Archie L and Eddie F tackled well and looked to play out from the back. Herny W worked hard upfront and linked up well with his midfielders. The first goal of the game was scored by Tom B and this was quickly follow by a second from Rafe C. Angus S made several good saves to keep Holmwood ahead.

Half time: Holmwood 2 -0 St Margaret’s

The second half was much closer. Both teams came close but could not force another goal. Holmwood swapped positions to allow players to experience playing in different positions.

Final score: Holmwood 2-0 St Margaret’s

Well done boys, a good start to the term.

Soccer - U9 C vs St Margarets

Final score -  2 - 1

On a very hot September day the Under 9s played their first match of the term against St Margaret’s. In an end to end game that could've been won by either team Holmwood House managed to win by 2 goals to 1.

Harry G scored two goals, one of which was in the last few minutes to win the match for Holmwood. Jack and Tom M carefully held their position upfront. Captain Joe H led by example passing the ball and exerting himself all around the field and Finley O did the same. Wilf C, Harry S and Henry R all played important part in defence. George played fantastically well in goal and was able to pull off some good saves and cleared exceptionally well. Well played!
