Rugby U11A vs OBH

The Under 11’s were looking forward to their first full game of the season. The ground was hard on Barbers Piece but they had prepared themselves for this during training. OBH started the game with an intercepted try from the halfway line. This really made the Holmwood players think about the offloads they were making in the tackle area.

Rufus. C made a blistering charge as wrong footing the defence with a dummy. Harry. P must be mentioned for his workload and body height in the ruck. Samuel. F and James. P linked together well to make ground and spread the ball across the pitch to stretch the defence.
During training we have been discussing the importance of ball retention and thinking about the different options; take the ball to ground; look for a pop pass; continue to drive forward.
The game was open and flowing and both sides showing some excellent handling. Well done for all involved and the season looks like it could have some very exciting rugby played.

Final score: Holmwood House 10 - 25 OBH

Rugby U10A vs OBH

Result: lost 15-40

In only their first game the boys played a competitive and spirited match. Slow to start with a few nerves, OBH had two strong players who dominated. HH eventually started to perform as they have been in training with Edward S and Angus M scoring two good team tries. The second half was a battle to contain the strong OBH runners despite some crunching tackles from Edward S and Britton F. Overall it was an encouraging start. Well done to the whole squad.
