Rugby U13A v OBH

For the second time in five days Holmwood took to the field against OBH. Having drawn the previous fixture (a ten minute match at a festival) Holmwood wanted to get a win early on in the season.

The attacking play and possession seemed to go Holmwoods way initially, with the ball being kept alive with offloads throughout the half. This became even more necessary as OBH won most contests that went to ground.

The first half ended 2 try's a piece.

The second half saw OBH come out ready to take the game to Holmwood.  The match went backwards and forwards from try line to try line with OBH probing well and several last man tackles from a selection of Holmwood players.
Successful turnovers and broken play were pounced on and converted into points by Holmwood.

From good defensive pressure OBH were awarded a scrum on Holmwoods five meter line. Two quick passes out wide allowed them to equalise in the corner. Fours tries each.

A very positive start to the season.

Rugby U13B v OBH

A very well contested game. The Holmwood boys were moving the ball with great skill and there were some really penetrating runs.Unfortunately we were unable to cross their line and score our first try of the season - there is always next week! We did very well for our first game against a slightly bigger team. Well played boys, a good example of resilience on the playing field.

Rugby U13C v OBH

With a newly assembled team, we set out enthusiastically for our first match against OBH. Despite it being our first match, the boys played with great determination and displayed some brilliant tackling and good attack. At halftime we found ourselves 10-5 up thanks to tries from Oscar C and Takura M-D. After halftime, OBH bounced back to level the score at 10-10, but a sniping run from James E allowed Oscar C to cross the whitewash to put us 15-10 up. Good ball retention and creativity by our flyhalf, Peter M resulted in another try. Holmwood now led by four tries to two. OBH were determined to not go down without a fight and managed to score a runaway try from the kick off, but some gutsy last minute defence resulted in a 20-15 win for Holmwood. The boys were delighted with the win and the season began with a good win and great team spirit.
