Rugby - U11 A vs Framlingham College Prep and Ipswich Prep

After a long journey into the beautiful Suffolk countryside the boys jumped off the bus and were ready for action. We found out that we had about 50 minutes until our first game. This gave us time to have a thorough warm up and get our bodies ready for the challenge.

The first game was against Ipswich Prep school and they were a physically large side. The attitude of the Holmwood players was outstanding, they did not let the size of the players put them off. They tackled low and did not allow the strong attackers to get up enough pace to break the impressive defensive line. However, eventually there were a few missed tackles and Ipswich scored two tries. Holmwood kept their heads held high and played as a team, moving the ball across the field and with a couple of lucky bounces the team scored three tries. It should be noted that these tries were all scored by individual acts of outstanding play by Sam F, Rufus C, James P. and were finished by H. Oliver.

Final score 15 - 10

Without much of a break the boys were straight back on the field against Framlingham Prep. They were tired and most were carrying knocks from the first game. Framlingham carried the ball very well and were dominant throughout. Holmwoods defence worked well on the first phase, but when the key tacklers were sucked in the Framlingham managed to keep the numbers outside to attack.

Final score: 30-0
