Girls' Hockey - U11A vs St Margarets
The first quarter was very evenly matched and the ball was well defended by both teams resulting in no goals for either side.
In the second quarter Holmwood found their form and with strong passing and moving the ball around the pitch to create space, three goals were quickly forthcoming, two from Ilayda H and one from Millie M.
In the third quarter the opposition started strongly and despite some excellent goalkeeping from Emily B, one ball successfully made it into the goal.
Time ran away with us and the game had to end after the third quarter. All the girls displayed excellent teamwork throughout the match and held their positions well. They supported one another and they were gaining the confidence to call for the ball.
Final score 3 - 1 to Holmwood
Girls' Hockey U11B vs St Margarets
Holmwood 5- St Margarets 0
The girls played on astroturf surface at Braintree hockey club for this fixture. There was also a change of personnel in defense with Ava G and Emmanuella I stepping in to play for an absent Pearl P and Georgia P making her debut in goal. All 3 newcomers made a valid contribution to the match with Georgia P making some key saves to allow Holmwood to keep a clean sheet. Most of the goals scored by Holmwood were in the 2nd quarter of the match with Holly C tapping in the first and Davina M scoring the second. With 2 further goals from Davina M to finish the quarter Holmwood found themselves with only one more quarter to play due to time constrictions. After the break, the girls continued to dominate in midfield with great link up play between Alex BC, Holly C and Davinia M which resulted in Holly C scoring again and the match finishing with a Holmwood win. Well done girls, you played very well as a team!
Girls' Hockey - U11C vs St Margarets
The girls got off to a strong start with a goal in the first quarter from Flora D who worked well with both Keira W and Julia K throughout the match to work the ball down the pitch.
The opposition came out very strongly in the second half and added two goals to their scoreline despite some good defending from Dominique G and Ava G.
St. Margaret's continued to apply pressure in their 'D' in the third quarter and their persistence paid off with a third goal just before the whistle blew.
It was unfortunate that time did not allow a final fourth quarter as the girls finished the match strongly demonstrating more accurate passing and better positioning.
Final score 3 - 1 to St. Margaret's
