Hockey - U11 Triangular Matches v The Abbey and Barnardiston Hall

Hockey U11 B v The Abbey

This was a very even match right from the outset and both teams demonstrated some outstanding hockey in the first half. Our passing in particular looked very impressive, but it was not enough to get the ball into the goal despite some accurate passing to the forwards. Our finishing in the 'D' needs further work during training to encourage the girls to hit at the goalie!

The second half was very reminiscent of the first. Our defence, Anna B and Sarah E, continued to pass the ball out strongly, linking well with Holly C as Centre Half. Despite many breaks from both teams, neither were able to score and the match ended a goalless draw.

Hockey U11 B v Barnardiston Hall

The girls were able to watch Barnardiston play The Abbey, so new they had a tough game on their hands! The Barnardiston girls were all very confident on the ball and in the first half we found this very intimidating. As a result they scored two goals in quick succession, even though Georgia had an excellent half in goal.

In the second half we certainly upped our game and we started to take control of the match. We repeatedly went in for tackles and won them and we had many opportunities in the 'D' to take shots on goal, but again our finishing let us down. However, we finished very positively and pleased with our match play despite the 2 - 0 score to the opposition.

Hockey U11 C vs The Abbey

Score: 1 - 1 (draw)

It was perfect conditions on the hockey fields today, the U11 C girls were excited and ready to play. They started the match with a bang! Julia K scored a goal within the first 5 mins. From there it got a bit tougher as The Abbey’s defence was too strong for us. Our defence was also fantastic, as the opposition were unable to score until the 3rd quarter taking the score to 1-1. In the final 10 mins, the supporters on the side were cheering loudly as the girls came very close to scoring another goal. It was a tough match but they played with an outstanding level of teamwork, encouraging each other every step of the way.
