Netball - U13 A vs Finborough and Culford

Our first opponents were Finborough. There was a very significant difference in size which the girls dealt with remarkable well. All week we had been practicing dodging forward, towards the person with the ball to overcome our lack of height in the mid court . Maisy H demonstrated this skill, repeatedly, having been marked by two taller players for most of the game, she still managed to get free and played a major part in our attacking play. Our marking was tight, but we unable to stop their attacks and with their accurate shooting they were ahead at half time 8-3. Our play improved during the second half. We created more space and delivered accurate balls into the shooting circle. Even though we were unable to make up the deficit, we only lost the second half 4-1. The final score was 12-4 to Finborough.

Our second match against Culford saw an improvement in our attack into our shooting circle. The court play was quite even, considering once again the difference in size, but their GK and GD were exceptionally tight and after the first half, had worked out our strategies and made it impossible for our shooters to receive the ball. We were unable to create alternative attacks. The girls did not give up but just couldn't find a way through. The final result was a win to Culford 11-4.

In both matches it was good to see the girls implementing skills we had worked on during the week's training. Well done.
