Soccer U11 A vs Littlegarth

Holmwood travelled the short distance to Littlegarth on a mild March afternoon to play their local rivals!!. The match started with Littlegarth looking comfortable in possession but holmwood defensive structure and recovery runs kept them at bay. Holmwood discussed that with slightly bigger goals and a reserve goalkeeper a shot on site policy should be employed. It was that tactic that put Holmwood into the lead. A fine turn and quick shot from distance by Henry D caught the Littlegarth goalkeeper unawares and the power of the shot took it past him for a 1-0 lead. Littlegarth created several chances and a combination of good defending and goalkeeper and poor finishing meant that Littlegarth did not equalise until close to half time. Holmwood continued to look dangerous on the counter attack but the half ended 1-1.

The second half was a close affair with chances at both ends. Holmwood best chance came after Rufus C was brought down in the area by the Littlegarth Goalkeeper. Henry D stepped up but his well struck shot was kept out by a fine save from the Littlegarth keeper. Both team continues to press but could not find a winning goal.
Another fantastic performance especially from a defensive point of view. Well done boys.
Final Score :  Holmwood 1-1 Littlegarth
