Girls' Hockey - U13 1st VII vs Woodbridge

Final score: won 5-1
Another superb performance with a convincing win. Maisy H was the only one to  score in the first half, despite numerous attempts. The Woodbridge goalie was outstanding and kept her team in the game. In the second half the girls thought more about their shots with a superb flick into the top corner from Hollie DR, two more goals fro Maisy and one for Phoebe R-L. Every goal was the result of strong, accurate passing and player of the match was definitely Freya J, whose calmness in defence led to the start of every attack. Well done girls, I'm really looking forward to this weekend's tournament.

Girls' Hockey - U13 2nd VII vs Woodbridge

This was certainly a game of two halves.  At half time the girls were disappointed by their performance and all agreed they were not playing to the best of their abilities.

The first half saw lots of individual strong performances but less cohesive teamwork.  Margot F and Honor D were kept busy in defence as Woodbridge made lots of good runs on goal.  They were well supported by Ilayda H in the centre half position.  After much pressure from the opposition the ball eventually found the goal and we went into half time a goal down.

The second half saw a different team come out onto the pitch.  The girls played as a solid unit and their confidence grew with each touch of the ball.  After a bad tumble in the first half resulting in some time off the pitch, Martha M came back stronger and she read the ball well for the whole 20 minutes.  Wings Holly C and Davina M held their positions better resulting in the play opening up more making for much easier hockey.  Hebe W as Centre Forward had a very confident half and made many good passes to the wings.

Despite much pressure on the Woodbridge goal we were unable to get the ball over the line and in the final few minutes Woodbridge upped the pressure and had many shots on goal but all were saved by an on-form Flora D.

Well done to all the players.  Having not seen you play for over a year it was so pleasing to see how your confidence has grown and your skills have greatly improved.

Final score 1 - 0 to Woodbridge

Girls' Hockey - U13 3rd VII vs Woodbridge

Our Holmwood team started a little sleepily today and Woodbridge were able to take advantage, scoring four goals quickly. Hannah was able to score a super goal before half time, and the girls celebrated in style.

Ava revealed at half time that she didn’t have a clear line of vision from goal, so she worked out a plan of action with Emmanuella and Lucy P. Our defence in the second half was much stronger. So was our attack. Arabella and Lucy B had several excellent shots at goal which just missed the target, and Hannah and Maria supported them well. The team again demonstrated a very positive attitude, and worked well together. Well done girls!

Final score: Holmwood House 1, Woodbridge 7
