U8 & U9 Swimming Gala vs St Mary's School

The first Year 3 gala is always an exciting event and this gala was no exception.  All the swimmers were warmly welcomed by the spectators as they came onto poolside and all the children were well supported after every race.
The Year 4s got the fixture underway with the individual backstroke event and it was an excellent swim from Jamie S to touch first, earning us a great win.  Fred O was not to be outdone and he shone in the breaststroke race with another win and this was quickly followed by first place for Fen J in the freestyle race in  a great time of 23.32.
The Year 3s demonstrated some determined racing with Edward R finishing in second in the backstroke and this was followed by second finishes from Skye F (breaststroke), Philippa B (freestyle) and Ben C (freestyle).
The Relays then followed and these were certainly hard-fought by both teams.  The Year 4 boys came home first in both the Medley and Freestyle Relays and the Year 3 boys (Edward, Sam T, Charlie P, Ben) also achieved first place in their Medley Relay.
The girls' Relay teams also swam well to achieve second places for the Year 4s in the Freestyle Relay (Charlotte G, Eloise C, Issy A-B, Sophie P),  and it was two second places for the Year 3s in both Relays (Zina G, Skye, Eliza F, Philippa).
A huge well done to all the swimmers and congratulations to the Year 3s for overcoming their nerves and trepidation!
