Rugby - U9 A vs Orwell Park

The snowfall over night on Barbers piece had melted and this left a nice soft pitch for the boys to play. The sun was warming the cool air up and at this stage in the season both teams had started to understand the way in which each other play.

The game started with great intensity and this was the order of the afternoon! The defence from both teams was outstanding and the body positions in the tackle area was something that must be praised.

The attacking runs from both teams were direct and it must be said that Orwell spread the ball across the pitch more evenly than Holmwood. Holmwoods players seemed to have more determination on the ball and this was the difference at the end of a great game.

Well done to all involved.

Final score: Holmwood 25 - 25 Orwell Park

Rugby - U9 B vs Orwell Park

Holmwood played some excellent attacking rugby, with some new faces coming into this team after working hard in training.

Fast attack was the work on in training this week, and this was demonstrated brilliantly in the style the Holmwood boys were playing.

With defence always a priority out on the Rugby field the boys have built up their resilience to a truly competitive situation. This was demonstrated with Holmwood tackling again and again whilst defending their own line.  Only one or two weeks previous Holmwood might have cracked, but they now endeavour to hold firm.

Orwell park played some great rugby too. I and the crowd where pleased to see a truly good contest for the victory.  Although it did not go the way of Holmwood House the boys enjoyed themselves.

Final score was HH 7 - Orwell Park 9.

It's great to see the boys continue to grow their rugby specific skills and the many other skills associated with Rugby.

Well done.
