Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
On Friday 1 June, Holmwood celebrated Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee. The day began with a full school assembly where we held our very own coronation. Graciela from Reception sat regally on her throne, ably assisted by her royal courtiers and footmen. She was greeted with Parry's 'I was Glad' anthem and a rendition of Handel's powerful 'Zadok the Priest'. We also watched a colour clip from the 1953 coronation and assembly finished with the singing of the National Anthem.
Later in the day, lunch was served al fresco in the style of a Children's Street Party in the drive followed by good, old-fashioned party games, including pass the parcel, musical chairs, pin the tails on the donkey, parrot and penguin, amongst other things.
