Eastern Regional Schools Ski Race
It was a great day and logistical miracle with 370 racers from over 50 schools skiing in glorious sunshine. It was by far the biggest Eastern Regional Schools Race they have run and it finished off National Schools Snowsports Week - definitely hitting the objective of increasing participation.
In the morning races the Holmwood U10/12 team (Years 3/4/5/6) came overall 10th out of 31 schools; Years 3/4 team coming 4th in the mixed category and, Year 5/6 team 8th also in the mixed category.
In the afternoon, the Year 7 skiers faced a very challenging course - getting to the finish line was an achievement for many of the racers. It was so challenging that only one school in the U14 mixed category got enough qualifying times.
The standard of skiing was very high so the Holmwood children should feel very proud of their achievements. Many thanks to the racers' parents for supporting. It was a good first year for Holmwood, and next year I am sure we can do even better!
