Cricket - Girls' U11 Tournament at New Hall (A),
Thursday 26 June 2014

The U11 girls' cricket team went to the annual New Hall tournament hoping to retain the trophy won by last year's team.

In the two qualifying matches, they beat St Anne's School by 256 runs to 224 and Larkrise Primary by 281 runs to 187.

They then played St Cedd's A team in the semi-final and had to chase 255 runs.  Olivia R and Isobel B were the last pair to bat, needing 20 runs to win off 12 balls!  Olivia scored 12 runs and Isobel scored a 4 and a 6, giving Holmwood a 2 run victory.

In the final, they played New Hall A.  Holmwood batted first and put 259 runs on the board.  All 8 girls then bowled amazingly well to limit New Hall to just 214, thus winning the tournament.

Nasser Hussain presented the trophy and commented that he had watched all twelve teams and the best team had definitely won plus they were the best dressed team!!
