new cricket sponsors  Piri Piri Cricket sponsorship

1st XI vs Ipswich (H), Tuesday 27 April 2010

After a photoshoot with new sponsors, Piri Piri Cricket, Holmwood lost three wickets in the first five overs.  Howevever, captain, Oliver Grayson, sensibly built a brilliant innings of 99 from first ball to last of the match and was run out going for his 100th run - only 5 yards short!  Oliver Carlstroem (28) and Alexander Jackson (19) both batted well to take the Holmwood score to a very impressive total of 194 for 6 wickets from the allotted 25 overs.

Ipswich were impressive in response and smashed 58 from the first six overs before losing a wicket.  A slightly concerned Nicholas Harrington came in to bowl and took an impressive 4 for 25 from five overs.  With 9 runs required from the last over, Samuel Wallace bowled an excellent over with only 4 runs from it to give Holmwood the win by 5 runs from a nail-biting exciting end to a fantastic game of cricket.

Piri Piri Cricket, winner of the Wisden Cricketer Best Bat 2010 award (newer names), have provided the 1st team with shirts showing their distinctive 'flaming hot' chilli logo, which is featured on the superb bats available from this new and already successful company.

Ben Stephens, director, hopes that this sponsorship and the chilli logo will 'fire up' the 1st team to win all their matches.  The boys all felt very much part of the team and were extremely excited to represent a sponsor who believes in their ability and makes such HOT bats!
