Sports Personality Awards

Holmwood success at the Colchester 2009 Sports Personality Awards!

Coach of the Year was won jointly by Holmwood staff Nic Lloyd and Danny Johnston who coach the U19 Rugby team.  The team made the quarter-finals and then the semi-finals in successive years of the National Cup (over 400 participating clubs).  The team also won the Eastern Counties Cup in 2008 and 2009, winning 45 out of 47 matches.  Congratulations!

Other Holmwood achievements included:

• Matthew French - one of three commendations for his efforts in sailing in the U14 Male Personality of the Year
• Harry Gozzett (old boy) - won U14 Male Personality of the Year for sailing
• Louis Persent (old boy) - commended for his efforts in Athletics in the Male Personality of the Year category.  He is now ranked No 2 in GB for the 400m.
