U9 Cricket Tournament Winners!

Cricket - U9 "6-a-side" Tournament at Orwell Park (Away),
Saturday 17 May 2014

On a sunny day at Orwell Park the U9 boys picked for the tournament had a fantastic day.  Each team started on 100 runs in this round-robin event of five schools.

Orwell were positive in their 6 overs and seemed strong at running between wickets.  Holmwood's bowling was fairly good with Alex B starting with a wicket from the very first ball of the tournament.  Will B picked up a wicket and Max M picked up 2 to restrict Orwell to 128 runs from their 6 overs.  In reply, Holmwood managed to only lose 1 wicket and reached the winning total of 140 runs with James N and Charlie A top scoring with a partnership of 15.

Against Littlegarth, Holmwood were on top straight away.  Oscar D took 2 wickets in his opening over, whilst Will B and James N each took 1 each as well crushing Littlegarth to a total of 94 runs.  Holmwood replied with smashing sixes and fours all round to get 36 from their 2 overs.

Holmwood then proved too strong for Barnardiston Hall who achieved 95 runs in their 6 overs.  Oscar D took 3 wickets in his over.  Holmwood scored 129 in reply, losing 4 wickets.

In the final match against The Abbey, Max M was the only bowler who managed a wicket, but the accuracy of the other bowlers, together with the pace of Charlie A, proved too much for the opposition as they managed a score of 119 runs.  Oscar D and Alex B put together 14 for the first partnership which meant the last pair came to the crease only needing 1 run to win from their 2 overs.  Holmwood ended on 130 runs to win the tournament unbeaten - well done!
