Year 2 news
In Art this week, Year 2 had their first experience of using ‘Modroc’. We used it to create some stunning winter tree sculptures. We started with a wire armature then we wet strips of plaster bandage (the same type of bandage that is used to fix broken bones!) and carefully wrapped and smoothed it onto the frame. It wasn’t easy and required a great deal of persistence and perseverance, a fantastic example of the ‘Resilience’ strands of our 5Rs."
It is always a special occasion when we are able to share our learning and achievements. On Thursday 1 February, Year 2 held their sharing assembly to their parents. It was a lovely display of the work they have been doing over the last half term based on their geography topic of islands. We saw some fabulous model islands, heard some endearing descriptions of their Grannies, learned about Katie Morag’s adventures on the Island of Struay and watched a lively performance of the their own Holmwood Reel.
