Year 4 Trip to France
Vendredi 12 mai:
We left Holmwood very early (4.45am) on Friday 12 May. After a smooth coach journey through the Channel Tunnel, we arrived at the bakery Le Fournil in Wierre-Effroi where we saw bread and cakes being made in a traditional French way. We also had a go at rolling our own "croissant" and sampled a freshly baked pain au chocolat. Miam miam!
After lunch, we visited the local primary school and met the French children to whom we had been writing. We listened to the French children singing their English songs and we showed them our French rhymes.
Then we went to the local supermarket for shopping. It was good fun!
In the evening, we were shown to our dorms and had a delicious cooked meal at Stella Maris Centre.
Samedi 13 mai:
Our first visit on Saturday was Maréis : a true-to-life staging exhibition which immersed us in the world of today's fishermen. We had a workshop on how to build our own fishing boat!
We then drove to Boulogne where we had crêpes for lunch. In the afternoon, we took part in a town trail and spent some time in the pedestrian streets around Rue de Lille and the ramparts. It was fun and interesting at the same time!
We arrived back at Holmwood around 8pm. Being away from home in a different country was such a great
experience for us all thanks to Mrs De Voy, Mrs Mookherjee, Mrs Goldring and Mr Cushing.
