We understand the importance of an effective start to a child’s education. Our Reception classes, led by Miss Henshall and Miss Turner, encourage a love for learning from an early age by offering a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum. The children enjoy a rich learning experience which is fun and full of exciting activities, outings, interacting with visitors, gardening, woodland exploration and cookery, as well as music, French, PE and games taught by specialist staff.
The Reception children are taught in a well-appointed building complete with the latest teaching resources and dedicated outdoor play spaces. Close proximity to the main school building enables the Reception children to use all the school’s facilities including the library, sports hall, swimming pool and playing fields. Children make full use of the school’s 25 acre site for a range of learning-based activities and have great fun doing so.
There is continuous assessment of each pupil’s progress throughout the school and information about academic progress and attainment is disseminated through reports and parents’ meetings. Click here to view our assessment and reporting schedules for this year.
My son was lucky enough to have been educated at Holmwood. He was really able to thrive with all the wonderful opportunities he was given - more so than at the school he attended prior to moving here. The teachers were very understanding and helped nurture him through his time there. Thoroughly recommend!
I could not have been happier with the school. The staff and parents were so friendly and if kids are happy and learning, that's it for me! A great school!
