Virtual Admissions Process
Thank you for your interest in Holmwood House School.
While all schools are closed due to Government advice, unfortunately it will not be possible to visit us in person.
However, admissions is still open, and we are encouraging families who are interested in joining the school to get in touch with on firstname.lastname@example.org or complete our enquiry form - our Registrar, Abigail Wills, would be happy to receive your enquiry and schedule a virtual meeting and visit to the school.
On our main site in Chitts Hill we accept children into all year groups from age 3 to 13. Be it as a Pre-Reception or Reception starter or as a new joiner further up in the Prep School, children very quickly become part of the Holmwood community. We also admit pupils at Year 7, where they can experience the unique opportunities afforded in a prep school environment before moving on to senior school at 13.
If your child is aged 6 months to 4 years, you can find out more about our Nursery in Great Horkesley or email email@example.com to request the prospectus. There is a separate application procedure for the Nursery, distinct from the process listed lower down this page.
To get a feel for our wonderful 25-acre site, you can also view our 3D virtual tour (to access this you must either be using a computer, or download the Google Earth app on your mobile phone or tablet; please note, photos are still being added to this tour).
In addition to browsing our website, you can also view our online prospectus for an overview of our school.
The Application Procedure
Make an Enquiry
Please contact the school directly completing our enquiry form, emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01206 673750. Abigail Wills, Admissions Registrar, will be able to advise if there is space in the year group you are considering for your child. We welcome admissions into all year groups throughout the academic year from Pre-Reception for 3 year olds to Year 8.
Abigail will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have at this stage and will invite you to meet with the Head, Mr Mitchell, virtually via a video call at a mutually convenient time. In the meeting, you will be able to discuss the needs of your child and ask questions about how Holmwood House can help nurture and develop your child's talents and abilities.
Depending on which year group your child would be joining, we will also ensure you meet relevant members of our team virtually.
Registration and Assessment
Following a meeting with the Headmaster, we will invite you to register for a place at Holmwood House, by completing the Registration Form and transferring the registration fee of £50. The receipt of this places your child on our class list for your chosen point of entry. Payments can be made electronically to Holmwood House Preparatory School: Account number: 43187330, Sort code: 20 58 69, (Reference: child’s name)
For children who are joining Pre-Prep, we would ask for a contact at your child's current school or nursery, whilst for pupils who are joining the Prep School, we will ask for a recent school report and a reference from your child's current school.
Offer and Acceptance
Once we have reviewed the information provided, we will be able to confirm whether we are able to offer a place for your child. Our Admissions Registrar will then send you an offer letter, parental responsibility form, final acceptance form and request for a deposit of £300. Return of this paperwork and deposit completely secures your child’s place at Holmwood. An email confirmation will be sent.
The deposit will be returned to you when your child leaves the school. In the event of the place being accepted and then cancelled in writing prior to entry, the deposit will be retained by the school.
A digital new joiner form will also need to be completed prior to your child’s entry so we can gather contact details, consents, medical information, etc.
