  • Monday 2 December 2019 Pupil Achievements Golden Awards are made weekly to individuals in each class based on the Golden Rules. Under these criteria, the awards are made for the whole term, the child receiving an annotated leaf which is placed on the Golden Tree for all to see. In addition the child receives a Golden Award badge to wear for the week.

  • Monday 2 December 2019 Boarding News It was a chilled week in boarding due to the assessments. Board games and other gentle pursuits were very much appreciated by the boarders!
  • Monday 2 December 2019 Boarding News - Big Night In On Friday 22 November, 56 very excited boarders set sail for the South Pacific Ocean for an evening of culture, fun and entertainment. The evening started with an insight into South Pacific music, with the Fan Dance. The Drum Dance and various other tunes. Pupils loved playing the percussion instruments and the didgeridoo!
  • Monday 2 December 2019 Pre-Prep Christmas Productions It's Christmas time in the Land of Rhyme! A huge thank you and congratulations must go to all our wonderful children in Pre-Reception, Reception and Year One for putting on an incredible performance. Years 2 and 3 put on a nativity play with a contemporary twist! After Mary receives an “angelagram” she shares her wonderful news with her family and Joseph. But how will the couple get to Bethlehem when their car breaks down?...

  • Monday 2 December 2019 Phase 3 - Debate
  • Monday 2 December 2019 Maths - Year 6 6Y were practising how to find the fraction of an amount. They worked really hard and solved the Tarsia puzzle. They had to work in groups where everybody had to give their input.
  • Monday 2 December 2019 Pre-Reception In Pre- Reception this week we have been learning about our bodies and how we look after ourselves.
  • Monday 2 December 2019 Pupil News Zara recently attended a ‘Girls in Jazz’ workshop at the Guildhall School of Music. The workshop was led by jazz singer Claire Martin, and other very talented jazz musicians. It was a wonderful opportunity.
  • Monday 2 December 2019 Nursery News This week Poppies have had fun collecting leaves in the garden to make pictures using them, and Babies enjoyed exploring our sensory water bags and our lock and latch boards.

  • Friday 22 November 2019 Year 1 - Leaf Man Year 1 enjoyed reading Leaf Man by Lois Elhert.  We collected leaves and created our own leaf people and wrote adventure stories for our leaf character.
  • Friday 22 November 2019 English - Year 5 Year 5 have been immersed in the language of Shakespeare this week, hearing it, speaking it and beginning to get a feel for it. Here they are acting selected scenes from The Tempest.
  • Friday 22 November 2019 Global Studies - 5IDV 5IDV created a TV talk show this week in Global Studies. A lord, a knight and a serf were interviewed about their views on Feudalism. 
  • Friday 22 November 2019 Latin - Year 6 Year 6 had fun with interactive vocabulary learning in Latin this week. 
  • Friday 22 November 2019 Uppingham Quiz - Year 6 On Tuesday eight of our Year 6 pupils headed to Uppingham. En route, faced with red lights in front of us, the minibus ground to a halt and we were stationary for nearly an hour. Mr Cook navigated through the back roads, and the pupils arrived safely just in time for their first match. Uppingham had kindly put us last. We lost the first match but won every other match of the general knowledge quiz to see us into the semi finals!
  • Friday 22 November 2019 Boarding News On Wednesday, for the second of the Year 8 talks on Law and Justice, Miss Recorder Thain (Rafa and Noah's mum) was extremely generous in giving up her time to speak to the year group about her life as a judge.
  • Friday 22 November 2019 Library News If your child enjoyed taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge then they’ll enjoy this year’s Reading Agency Winter Reading Challenge, which encourages children to keep reading through the winter holidays.
  • Friday 22 November 2019 Nursery News Babies have enjoyed singing and using makaton as part of National Nursery Rhyme week. We have also been developing our independence and doing things for ourselves. Bluebells’ theme for the week has been Nursery Rhymes. This week in Poppies we had lots of fun exploring the garden, and all the leaves that we could find.

  • Friday 15 November 2019 Boarding News This week in boarding we had a Cinema Night for Years 7 and 8. The children really enjoyed watching the original 'Back to the Future' and eating nachos and ice cream, as well as the obligatory popcorn
  • Friday 15 November 2019 STEM - Year 4 Year 4 have been making boats in STEM to carry cargo like the pirates and explorers who discovered the oceans. They had a lot of fun trying to see if their boat would float and making modifications to make them work.
  • Friday 15 November 2019 Children In Need 2019 Pupils across the school are supporting the charity today by wearing funky socks or tights.
  • Friday 15 November 2019 Academic Celebration Years 5 & 6 pupils are proud to show off work and celebrate their academic achievements.
  • Friday 15 November 2019 Cookery This week's Monday cookery activity was a poppy inspired cupcake theme in honour of Remembrance Day.
  • Friday 15 November 2019 Anti-Bullying Week This year's theme is 'Change Starts With Us' and pupils have been writing pledges for how they can make changes.

  • Friday 8 November 2019 Boarding News Week 7 brought another week of fun for the boarders. On Monday the pupils had the chance to experiment with face painting or other activities in the art room. Much hilarity and creativity ensued! Other pupils had swimming races in the pool. On Wednesday, we had the first of our Theme Nights for Year 8. The theme was ‘Japanese Night’ and the children explored Japanese culture by learning Jan Ken Pon and Origami.
  • Friday 8 November 2019 Global Studies Year 7 have started their new Global Studies topic: We Are What We Eat. They have been thinking about where our food comes from and how it is produced. Pupils played a game to see how successful they would be as banana farmers and to learn about things that affect trade and food production.
  • Friday 8 November 2019 Buddy Reading Just before half term, Year 4 visited their buddies in Reception and had a super time sharing books with them.
  • Friday 8 November 2019 Latin - Years 6, 7 & 8 Year 8 have been studying the Roman invasion of Britain. There are two possible landing sites. Each group was given the task to research and justify their choice. Kalani was invited to hear both sides and make a judgement. It was a fiercely contested and well argued competition. We have concurred that the Romans actually landed at Fishbourne!
  • Friday 8 November 2019 DT Year 6 have been making keyrings in DT, and learning how to use the equipment in the process.
  • Friday 8 November 2019 Earthquake Interview As part of our Extreme Earth topic, Year 3 were very excited this week to have the opportunity to Skype the Year 4 class, at The British International School Istanbul, 1,900 miles away! Mrs Lincoln's sister-in-law teaches there and we interviewed her class to find out all about the recent earthquake that hit the city three weeks ago. We learned about what a tremor feels like, how an earthquake evacuation happens and what damage the earthquake caused.
  • Friday 8 November 2019 Cookery Years 4 and 5 have really been enjoying their cookery activity this term. So far we have mixed, boiled, melted, whisked, chopped, baked and grilled a mouthwatering array of sweet and savoury dishes - and all of them simple and easy to prepare. As well as donning aprons and getting stuck in, the children have also been learning techniques, methods and the science behind the scenes!
  • Friday 8 November 2019 Year 1 Forest School 1L enjoyed an imaginative and co operative Forest School session this week.  We had a  fun game of Hawkeye where the children concealed themselves in The Spinney and had to try to get back to Hawkeye during short periods of time when her eyes were covered.  If they were spotted moving or were not well enough hidden they were caught by the 'hawk' - the children learned this is how a hawk catches its prey in the wild and how hard it is not to be spotted!
